Any respectable artist has received rejection letters! Even Maddona.
Art Worth Being Seen
Inspired by my latest rejection letter for a public art project, for work that may otherwise never been seen, I invite artists of all genres living in Simcoe County to join me in this exhibit. Art is meant to be seen and shared. If you have work you love, created specifically for projects which have been turned down, please apply.
Rejected – an exhibit of rejected artist works will be held at the SpareRoom Gallery, 12 Lakeshore Mews, Barrie, Ontario during the month of November.
The irony here is that Spare Room is a small gallery. We’re able to accept up to 15 artists to present work which has been rejected from public art projects, juried shows and publications. Fees cover gallery rental.
Why be part of this exhibition?
Just because you received a rejection letter for your work, doesn’t mean it’s not good enough. It just means it wasn’t right for that project, or the competition was steep, or the jurors have a different asthetic. This is your opportunity to show the world some of the amazing work you’ve done that may never see the light of day. You can stand alongside other artists and gain from your experiences together.
